Tongluoshan, which is an important component of Chongqing's ecological protection area and barrier, bears great significance to the ecological conservation of the Yangtze River. The area used to be a large-scale limestone mining area. In the past, it suffered huge loss of its soil and forest and encountered serious ecological degradation because of open-pit mining.

In 2018, Chongqing chose the ecological restoration project of Tongluoshan as a pilot project in the all-round ecological conservation of mountain, water, forest, farmland, lake and grassland ecosystems in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

Since 2019, the construction team of CMCU Engineering Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Sinomach, has fully leveraged its comprehensive sci-tech strength in the ecological restoration of the former mining area. During the past five years, the construction workers have closely followed the principles of unified planning and step-by-step ecological restoration in the implementation of the project that has an area of 14.87 square kilometers.

Additionally, construction workers have made full use of natural resources and transformed the former abandoned open-pit mines into a series of lakes colored by minerals. Right now, the place has become a popular tourist destination for its attractive scenery in Chongqing. Local government formally opened Tongluoshan mine park to the public in June 2021. Since then, it has received about 800,000 times of visit on a yearly basis.

Meanwhile, nearby townships and residents have founded their own business initiatives and rolled out special services related to the mine park, with an annual tourism income of about 20 million yuan. The successful transformation of the once-neglected mining area has become a testament to the synergy between ecological restoration and sustainable economic development.

In the years ahead, Sinomach will continually leverage its sci-tech strengths in terms of clean energy utilization, environmental governance and ecological restoration, and shoulder its responsibilities in further promoting the development of ecological civilization and safeguarding natural resources.
